.606//A New Direction
After less than half a year of experimentation with WordPress, I’ve decided to stop blogging on WordPress.
I won’t be going back to http://calvin-lim.blogspot.com though. The new address is the http://lim-calvin.blogspot.com
The blog’s going to be my life with a totally different writing style. Hopefully it still sounds like me – hoho.

.603//Love Story
We were both young when I first saw you
I close my eyes
And the flashback starts
I’m standing there
On a balcony in summer air
See the lights
See the party, the ball gowns
I see you make your way through the crowd
And say hello, little did I know
That you were Romeo, you were throwing pebbles
And my daddy said stay away from Juliet
And I was crying on the staircase
Begging you please don’t go, and I said
Romeo take me somewhere we can be alone
I’ll be waiting all there’s left to do is run
You’ll be the prince and I’ll be the princess
It’s a love story baby just say yes
So I sneak out to the garden to see you
We keep quiet ’cause we’re dead if they knew
So close your eyes
Escape this town for a little while
‘Cause you were Romeo, I was a scarlet letter
And my daddy said stay away from Juliet
But you were everything to me
I was begging you please don’t go and I said
Romeo take me somewhere we can be alone
I’ll be waiting all there’s left to do is run
You’ll be the prince and I’ll be the princess
It’s a love story baby just say yes
Romeo save me, they try to tell me how to feel
This love is difficult, but it’s real
Don’t be afraid, we’ll make it out of this mess
It’s a love story baby just say yes
Oh oh
I got tired of waiting
Wondering if you were ever coming around
My faith in you is fading
When I met you on the outskirts of town, and I said
Romeo save me I’ve been feeling so alone
I keep waiting for you but you never come
Is this in my head? I don’t know what to think
He knelt to the ground and pulled out a ring
And said, marry me Juliet
You’ll never have to be alone
I love you and that’s all I really know
I talked to your dad, go pick out a white dress
It’s a love story baby just say yes
Oh, oh, oh, oh
‘Cause we were both young when I first saw you

CRAP. Shouldn’t have gone out last week. I’m out of $$ now. ARGH
.601//So far
Many days have passed since the GP exams (aka. last day of J1 Term 2). I’ve made many goals for myself during the holidays, which I’ve not achieved, nor am I near to actually achieving:
- Go run 6 rounds at the track every evening.
- Complete Chinese Oral Recordings by Week 1.
- Complete reorganising my files and classifying my notes.
- Attempt to read Economics and try a CSQ.
- Many many more crap.
Ugh. Oh but I did finish watching How I Met Your Mother (all 4 seasons) within 4 days though. Haha. Great show. Watch it some day. It’s going to be LEGEND— (wait for it)… (wait for it)… and-I-hope-you’re-not-lactose-intolerant-cos-the-next-word-is DARY!!! xDxD
By the way, does anyone know if the lower jaw is supposed to be further in the mouth than the upper jaw? Cos I just realised my upper jaw is protruding out – really badly… o_O

To the class of 09S02
Just wanted to say a huge THANK YOU for making my last few months in SAJC so memorable. I must admit it was a bit daunting teaching you guys at first – the stony stares, all the smelly boys, the fact that I just couldn’t get your names for so long (sorry!!), nobody seeming very interested in GP. And I was really quite terrified of some of you who seemed to be giving me the evil eye, but later realized that no malice was intended. I think. And I’m glad to say that I came to enjoy teaching you all, especially when I began to notice your strange idiosyncracies and “adorable” habits (infer the usage of the inverted commas here? Haha). For some it was talking INCESSANTLY, for others it was a strange and incomprehensible urge to look at their elbow. For some it was making it a point to NOT hand in work on time, and yet others who made it a point to do so all the time. You people have a great sense of humor to, which always works for me. And your reactions to the socialization trick that I played on you were the ultimate best – thanks for expressing your views so unbashedly, and knowing when to question and when to listen.
I’m sure you’ll be in good hands in the coming years. I hope you’ll continue (or begin) to love the english language and all it has to offer… and that you’ll carry on becoming more culturally literate and finding joy in learning new things.
Which leaves me to say, alll the best! In whatever you do, and wherever you go. You’re a bright and determined lot, with a good set of values and (mostly) of sound mind – I know you’ll go far. Keep in touch! Tell me how life is, what Uni you go to, and what adventures you embark on. Go to Africa! Be s uper entrepreneur! Make your first million by 30! Be the best social worker ever! My email address is [cancelled out to remain privacy] for now, but it might be terminated soon. Will keep you posted

Take care and God bless,
Ms Jillian Lee
29 May 2009
Today we had our GP paper, and nearing the end of Paper 2, Ms Lee came in and handed the above letter to the invigilator (in an envelope with the words “To the monkeys of 09S02” haha), together with a jar full of candies from rock candy from stickies (she seems to like that place a lot) and a special pack of candies for Choon Zhe (because he’s the GP rep). I shan’t comment on how atrociously dry, boring and stupid great the GP paper was, but I’ll spend a little time commenting on Ms Lee.
The first few days of weeks of school was shrouded in mystery. We didn’t have a single GP tutorial (only lectures) and we didn’t know who our GP tutor was. When the lecture-tutorial timetable started though, we were worrying over which tutor we were going to get. I had a certain feeling it was going to be Mr Randy, because no other classes seemed to have him yet. So on the first GP tutorial, we rushed to the classroom, only to see a skinny lady standing there, who seemed to look quite intellectual. The first GP tutorial was rather monotonous, partly because our class hadn’t been acquainted with her very well yet. She seemed to be very strict, somehow, and very… very youthful in a way, as she seemed quite easily pissed. I don’t know. Maybe it’s just me.
The subsequent GP lessons were mostly amusing. She seemed to be quite a fun teacher, cracking jokes and being quite a liberal teacher as well. She wasn’t one who would hide her emotions nor thoughts just to save her ricebowl (come to think of it, quite a lot of teachers are like that too). No one can ever forget how she treated people who didn’t do homework or came late. HAHA the first time many of them were late, they did jumping jacks (I was early, everyone else was late LOL). It was an amusing sight, and Ms Lee was laughing non-stop.
Who can ever forget how Ms Lee teaches GP? Her real straight face aside, she seemed to teach GP in a really strict way, but yet fun way too. She could make us understand the essential skills in tackling an Application Question, and to handle an Essay Question quite well. And of course her way with words is so… funny. Especially her SMSes to Choon Zhe: “13 people including YOU have not handed in the essay yet.” =P She always gave us sweets as a reward, so much so that teachers around the school actually knew of her idiosyncracies. Haha. To quote Mdm Lee Lin Hoon (who’s also leaving my class ): ) “Ms Jillian Lee good right? Always giving sweets one. Very nice teacher, not like Mdm Lee, always scolding ^^.”
Perhaps it’s fate that she has to leave now. I can’t go around moping about the fact that she’s gone right now. At the very least, she had set the foundations right for us for GP. Also, at least she didn’t do a crappy job of teaching us even when she knew she was going to leave already. She was even willing to mark our essays the day yesterday when her last few days of SAJC were about to come. That’s a teacher that everyone can really appreciate.
Thank You Ms Lee for making GP such a fun and interesting subject. And yes, the stares were unintentional. =P
As Nicholas Koh would put it, “She’s a really sweet teacher,” and as Elaina would put it “You’re my favourite teacher!” (,:
.599//Today
Two days before TODAY, a QTSS teacher committed suicide at the 30th floor of my grandmother’s block.
TODAY, a Student Councillor fainted while she was standing at attention at the flagpoles, halfway during assembly. A lot of people gathered around her.
Two days before TODAY, Ms Ho Jia Min said she’s leaving the school next year. She claims we can still survive because we survived 16 years without her.
TODAY, Singapore reported its first case of H1N1 flu virus.
Six days before TODAY, Mdm Lee Lin Hoon says she has to take a J2 class, so she has to drop one of her J1 classes. She chose ours and left us in Mr Mike Wang’s hands.
TODAY Miss Jillian Lee had a make-up lesson with her and at the end of it, she announced that it was her last lesson with us as she won’t be following us up to Term 3. (She was supposed to leave the school in March, but the school postponed it to End-June).
The two sole teachers (Ms Ho doesn’t count because even if she leaves next year it won’t affect us much. We take our Chinese A Levels this year) that actually the better ones for my class are leaving. The ones who’s better are leaving, and the ones who’s worse are staying. And I don’t know if it’s just me, or does SAJC quite a large amount of staff movement (with reference to the School Annuals).
I don’t know whether to say “Darn, I should’ve put NYJC or JJC before SAJC” or “Great. I’m so going to flunk my A Levels this way” or “Who cares? It’s my revision that counts.“
I’m at a loss right now. I can’t make them stay since the decisions have already been made.
I am, however, happy about one thing. Despite these teachers knowing that it’s their last few moments with us, they did not do a sloppy job of teaching us (which if they did would’ve caused the next teacher a lot of trouble). They groomed us and made sure that we had the basic foundations set right. Thank you Ms Lee and Mdm Lee.

Boy: Daddy, do you think I could be Class President?
Boy’s Father: Well we can’t all be Holmer Simpsons (in reference to the fact that Holmer Simpson was a Class President-Elect)
~ The Simpsons Season 20 Episode 10 – Take My Life Please
Isn’t it such a moral dillemna for parents whenever their children ask them questions like these and “Mommy, will I ever be President?” or “Mommy, will my legs ever grow back?”
The parent can only look back and smile.

This week wasn’t very productive. Monday was holiday in lieu for Vesak Day (HAHA Poly students don’t have), Tuesday was a few boring and useless lessons, Wednesday was a few more boring lessons and lectures, Wednesday night I had a fever (39°C), sore eye (had to go to 7-11 to buy eyewash) and running nose (my nose was like a spoilt tap. drip drip drip drip…) Thursday I skipped school and went to the polyclinic and they frigging ostracised me like as if I had swine flu LOL (Made me wear a sticker saying my temperature, my consultation room was in the open air, instead of inside the place itself). Friday I’m here blogging to you as my MC stretched to today. Mwahaha-urgh-urgh-urgh. Sorry, still having a bad cough. Haha.
Talk to you guys some other time (:
